The free Wellness Wheel pdf is a resource I like to use with my clients in therapy. By filling out the sections of the wheel, clients understand what areas they are doing well in, and what areas need more care.
This resource can be helpful for those experiencing anxiety because it can help to organize feelings of overwhelm into manageable parts. It can be helpful for those battling with depression because they can see what areas have been impacted the most.
This is a great way to get to know the client at the beginning of therapy and can be used to measure increases in wellness periodically throughout. Debriefing it together allows the client to explain what is important to them and helps them envision wellness for their life.
The second page of the Wellness Wheel pdf encourages clients to create a realistic self-care plan for one area. Tackling one area at a time prevents discouragement and disengagement from self-care in general. Imagine having a long list of things you need to do but realistically cannot do because of how busy your schedule is. Now imagine also having limited energy to do those things.
It takes intentional time and effort to incorporate more of the activities that promote personal wellness. The hope is that clients will be encouraging and compassionate to themselves and engage in the things that make life better.
